I’ve been thinking about this project for a while now. I’m lazy. And I hate watering grass so every summer during the summer months, my grass turns brown. I used to have a bunch of hoses running all over the yard with timers set up, which worked, but was ugly and cumbersome. So I finally decided to get this project set up.
The b-hyve module is great as you can wirelessly set up schedules for each individual zone and it automatically provides rain delay based on the forecast.
TIP: Offset your zones, so only one zone at the time is watering to provide for the maximum pressure. Otherwise, pressure is distributed across all sprinkler heads providing less coverage.
The hardest part was finding the proper connections. It took 3 trips to Lowes to finally find the right parts.
I used the following materials to set this up:
- Standard 1/2″ PEX-B piping
- PEX to MNPT male connectors
- Male hose connectors (for sprinkler heads)
- Female hose adapters (for b-hyve)
- PEX clamps
- PEX pipe clamps
- PEX cutter
- PEX clamp tool
- Standard hose attached sprinkler heads (any will do)
- B-hyve smart watering timer
